My love for arts and crafts started when I was young. My mom would take me to craft shows and antique markets and that is where I learned to appreciate handmade things. When I was in school, art was the one class I could not get enough of and I dabbled in everything from calligraphy to pottery and even stained glass. Later I went on to college and majored in Interior Design. I have been taking a break from working in the design field to raise my two boys and, now that Jan and I have created Sweet Whimsy, it has made me realize how much I miss the creative process. Sweet Whimsy allows me to create beautiful things with my best friend and we have our kids right there with us. Who knows, maybe our creativity will rub off on the kids and they will be the next artists in our families.
Guess my mom got me hooked on crafts back when I was a child. We were always making dough ornaments, cross-stitching, drawing…. things that I have continued doing throughout my life. As I got older I developed a real appreciation for art and for handmade products. After becoming a mom, I wanted to do something from home that could be done with my children and work around my family’s life. Sweet Whimsy is that answer.
Not only do I get to create fun, whimsical things, but I get to work with my closest friend, Jennifer, and make a living doing something I’m passionate about! Occasionally my 6 year old daughter helps with painting items and choosing colors and I love being able to spend time creating with her too!
Every month an Artisan will be chosen to be featured on this blog. They will be creators of Wearable Art, Art Jewelry, Altered Art or other forms of art created out of my digital designs.

About Sweet Whimsy:
We, Jennifer & Jan, met in early 2004 when our first-born were about a year old & have been friends ever since. We decided to put our craftiness to good use when we created Sweet Whimsy in January of 2009.
