Aztec Vampire Painting

In Aztec mythology, the Cihuateteo were human spirits of women who died in childbirth. They are associated with the underworld. This is my representation of an undead vampire who creates dangerous mischief. 24 × 24″ Acrylic and Plaster on Canvas. Textured Palette Knife Painting by Laura Barbosa.

  1. Dem Aztecs sure were some monstrous cannibalistic people. While cannot condone Spanish inhumane treatment of indigenous peoples one can understand how they felt no regret at destroying those civilizations.

  2. Wow! Love it…it’s perfect for my “Artists Gone Wild” theme today!
